Does anyone have late blooming daylilies?

While investigating an aster I found a daylily that bloomed either yesterday or the day before and is blooming today. It is not a re-bloom so this must be its day to shine. the last first time bloom was in mid August. The flower was grown from seed and while I pretty much know who mom was but dad is a mystery. Does anyone else have late blooming daylilies?

Yes, I do. I had my last one bloom two days ago, a red daylily.

 

Supersweetmom, did the red Daylily have a name? Cultivars like 'Back to School' and 'Autumn Accent' push the season. They say August Flame is a late bloomer but mine blooms in August. I'm really looking for September.

While at one of my aunt's 2 weeks ago... she had a daylily very similar to your's Jerry that had just opened. Me? Haven't had one bloom since early summer.

 

I was shocked to see these guys when I went out after dinner :-D

They are very small compared to the earlier blossoms
and almost look 2 tone :-?

 

If the second set of flowers are smaller they may be re-bloomers.

Jerry, I don't know the exact name of the red daylily. The flowers are of the larger variety. Here is a photo of the plant that is still blooming.....

Oh, my Stella....yellow daylilies are still blooming too. Several to go yet.

 

Supersweetmom, Wow!! A lovely red daylily. Since it is late in the season it may be easier to identify. Thank you for the picture.
Stella d'oro is a re-bloom so they would be blooming now but reduced in size. It's like getting a bonus after the regular bloom season.

I have several re-blooms, the stalks are usually shorter so they would not stand out like the first flowers. Often there are seedpods from the first flowers as the new second generation starts to bloom.

Deanna those look like 'Rosy Returns' which is a re-bloom, Nice surprise!


Cheryl, my flower has Hals Frans(the dominant daylily and seed producer in the yard) in its background. Perhaps your Aunt's flower has a similar lineage. It is one of my favorites as it produces such a variety of offspring.
