Sat. our son had to work late and wasn't home for supper. So my wife and I went into town to eat. While in there we decided to go to Odd Lots to see what kind of bargains we could find. They had set up their Halloween displays already on August 4th. I imagine by the middle of the month, they will have Thanksgiving and Christmas set up as well. What is wrong with these people? Can't they read the calendar?

Michaels craft store has fall and Halloween pretties out already too. I bought three little witchy decorations the other day, felt hopeful for the coming of fall then stepped outside to go to the car and felt like I had been hit with sun stroke from the reality that I had forgotten was waiting for me outside.

I can understand craft stores putting holiday items out early--some of us who are "craft challenged" need time to try our hands at something, and then try again!
But to stock holiday decorations two or three months in advance seems a bit over the top. I feel for the poor store clerks who have to look at this stuff for three months, and then try to seem enthused for their family when the holiday actually arrives.
If I had to work with the motion-activated tweeting bird Christmas tree ornament for two months, I'd rip the little tweeter's head off!

I work at Garden Ridge and we started putting up christmas stuff a month ago. Weve got nearly all our trees up. Our Halloween stuff actually went up after the christmas haha

Capt, the stores are sent these shipment at the manufacturers timeline, not their own. So when they order the "newest" decorations at a trade show/fair, which is nearly a year in advance, they have no room which to store all this "stuff" until a more appropriate season....So they are forced put it out for sale. I agree with rockhound...Bah HumBug! We can't even enjoy the current season as it is....we are forced to hurry through it and worry about the next one before it is even close.

Try working at a newspaper when you have to plan advertising month's in advance. Granted... it's not as bad as some of the stores... but when the season/holiday finally arrives, I'm burnt-out already.

I worked at a hardware store for about 6 months. There was 2 of us in receiving and we got Xmas lights and decoration in the first week of July that year, then had to find some place to store them until Nov.

Our thrift shop has Christmas stuff out on a table. She said they have so much Christmas stuff in their small storage shed they had to start putting it out to make room for other stuff in there. I was going to sort out my winter stuff and donate it but not I guess I'll wait until they store the summer stuff and put out the winter stuff so they won't have to store my stuff, too.
It's all a matter of where to put the stuff I guess, in storage or out on the shelves where someone might buy it early.
