Don't throw it out,..give it to me,..that's what i told my neighbor when she was about to bin her lamp stand,..it seems the bulb holder became loose and there was no way to secure it as there was only a small hole in the base,..not even big enough to get a finger through. As i had a touch to turn on light that ended its days i was sure i could build a new lamp with the bits and pieces plus i had a dark spot in the house that needed a dim light to be brightened up,..so here is the finished project,..with a corner shelf. The Lamp Stand is 13 inches high. ( photo / image / picture from Philip Nulty's Garden ) New light fitted. Wonderful re-use of a lovely lamp base! What a shame to throw away something that good looking. Good for you for rescuing that lamp base and making good use of it.
There is almost always another way to use an item instead of putting it in the trash. Very glad you saw it and could use it, looks really good in that corner.
Hi Jane and Toni,..i liked the stand even if i couldn't convert it,..seemed a shame to bin it,..that glass bulb like dome contains a small bulb inside,..i really like it. ====================================================== Oops Cheryl i nearly missed you,..you just popped up as i was logging off,..a yes i knew you would have saved it,..
I doubt I'd have been able to convert the vase into a lovely lamp like yours Philip. It looks grand on that corner shelf. Just watch out that your neighbour doesn't spot it and want it back again.
If you couldn't have used it as a lamp, glueing a pretty dish to the top to make a bird feeder would have been good too.
Long time customer moving. Back of my Jeep. Full of potting soil. Containers, trellis and all kind of plant food. Can't take it across state line.
