Found this old stand in my Grandpa's barn last year. I think it's an old aquarium stand. Probably belonged to my aunt who lived there after my grandparents passed on. old aquarium stand ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I cleaned it up and painted it... sat it to the side until I could find a planter that would fit into the top section. (Now needs another coat of paint.) Never could find a perfect fit, so Hubby cut out a piece of wood to make one fit. Then I've just been trying to figure out what to place on the bottom shelf. I've had this basket for a couple of years that I've been trying to get planted up. But haven't been able to find a planter that fitsinto it and I don't like those "coco-liner" thingys. The other day, I found this plastic container that "almost" fits it. Well... close enough for me! And since I'm on a self-imposed "no plant buying" period... I figured I'd start a couple of cuttings from plants already on hand. It's not fair Cheryl - why don't you live next door to me? I could do with some of your artistic flair and imagination. You seem to be able to turn any old junk into something wonderful.
Awesome job!!! I thought the stand was square, from the picture where it is black. Great job on the color combination of the succulents and ORANGE basket. Looks fantastic. And here I tossed my stand... obviously I have no imagination or am I able to visualize what I could do with it. It is truly a blessing to all of us that you are on here. Thank you!!!
You did wonders with that stand, Cheryl. Where will it's fimal place be? I was wondering if it would be on the porch, oe out in the yard somewhere.
Cheryl, your enthusiasm and eye for improvement are constant inspiration. That has to be the best-looking aquarium cum plantstand I've ever seen!
Thanks everyone. I guess I just have a one track mind! Shelves, buckets, baskets... you name it... I just think of plants! Sjoerd.... it'll be out in the yard. The front porch is rather small and doesn't get much light (except first thing in the morning). Thanks again!
That is great looking. I have seen stands like that at thrift stores and wondered but now I have an idea of what to do with one.
Your plants get bonus living quarters with the creative containers, stands and pots and we get treated to another garden treasure. Well done Cheryl!! Jerry
