dr took pictures before I got up this morning so I will put them here for him.
First, white iris growing in back yard. Much bigger than the other white iris.

Then, the bleeding hearts have doubled in size. These are the same dollar and fifty cent ones.

Now purple iris down by the lower fence.

and finally our only lilac bush. I trimmed a lot of dead wood out last year but I left a few of the suckers because it only had green at the top. If I cut all the suckers will new green come out further down the trunk?

Beautiful shots guys, I could just gobble that white iris up. Pity we can't get a whiff off that lilac.

Gosh my lilacs are just coming into full leaf now and won't flower until sometime in May!! I really wish we had 'scratch and sniff' piccies as lilic has the most wonderful scent.
Those white iris's are stunning and the blue and white ones compliment each other really well.
Your bleeding hearts were definately a bargain - another of my garden favourites. :-D

Gosh, it all looks great, my La. irises are finishing up and the beards aren't co-operating much. I have another iris in back, don't know what kind, but it is just forming the buds.

My lilacs doesn't put new growth out down where I've trimmed it, but that could be just mine, can't help there. Bleeding Heart grows wild around here (Lucky Me!) and it, along with Johnny Jump-up (looks like a wild yellow violet) have always meant Spring to me, thanks for the preview! (goodness, you are a couple of super gardeners!)

I really like the white iris. And those bleeding hearts have sure grown and their blossoms are so dainty looking.
