Today, well this morning, I was out watering my garden, kind of playing in the water too. I noticed a couple of dragonflies, then some more. Well, there was a whole bunch of them in no time at all. Not hundreds, but enough to really notice.
I thought they were there to get the water, but read that they swarm to feed. It was really beautiful to watch these guys swooping around and landing on the plants. Such amazing wings they have.
I did not capture any pictures, I didnt want to miss the show. I thought I'd share with you all.
    It was very peaceful.

I love watching Dragonflies and Damsel flies too as they flit around our pond. So relaxing just standing there surveying them go about their business. :)

I’m with you. It is really enjoyable watching them. We have a small canal on two sides of our garden, so we see them all the time. We see them not only above and along the banks of the canal, but also in the garden. They and their antics are so entertaining. They are helpful too.

We had a Widow Skimmer visit our porch. She is called that because the male usually tends the eggs, but in this variety of dragonfly he leaves, hence the name "widow".

She's a pretty thing, but men be fickle.

We have a lot of fun with the dragon flies when we cut the grass. We get quite a few of them because of the creek. I swear they know when the lawn tractor is going. There is a swarm of them dipping and diving all around Hubbies head while he is on the mowing machine, ready for the feast of stirred up bugs. They follow Hubby around on it, much like seagulls around a fishing vessel. They are one my favourties. I'm happy you enjoy them so much Lillium Lover. Lovely post.

Great pic @marlingardener we get the ones with the green body, as far as we can tell because they fly about so much, but only at this time of year. Seen one the other day.

I'm also in the dragon fly lover club. We don't have many around and I always stop what I'm doing to gawk at them.
