I like photographing dragonflies, I would guess a few of you do too. If you disturb them, they usually circle around and come back to the same area, sometimes the same spot. This is a fairly big one.

I rescued one a few days back. He was stunned for some reason so I put him somewhere safe. Next day he was nowhere to be found, success!

This is a new Dragonfly to me and it's a real beauty.

I've only seen one species over here that has white on it and it's pretty rare - it's a White Faced Darter.

Beautiful! It's tail reminds me of a totem pole.
A few weeks ago a friend and her kids were over. The youngest boy (age 6) freaked out when he saw a Dragonfly. He said his aunt told him they sting like a wasp. I think I got him to realize that this just wasn't the case. Darn grown-ups!

    Yet another amazing photo, Kildale!
Saw my first dragonfly of the year just a couple of days ago. Lots of people here have a small pond in their garden, this attracts not only the dragonflies, but also the occasional heron looking for an easy meal :-D
Awesome creatures, especially when you watch them hunt. You can see them do sharp turns in the air as they chase their prey.

Dragonflies are the fastest flying insect and great hunters.
