Dragonfly

    They're not the best pictures, but I was elated to be able to capture some images of this dragonfly while I was at my granddaughter's birthday/swim party at her other grandmother's house.

    Do they drink with their tails? This little guy kept overing just over the wet concrete and dipping his tail into the water.

    Even though he's almost out of frame here, I love that you can actually get a glimpse of his wings!

    Those are amazing pictures!
    As far as the dragonfly dipping her tail, that is usually because it is a female depositing her eggs. If it was only wet concrete, I hope it doesn't dry too quickly.

    those are great pictues! I do like the last not only for the wing shot but for the position and the shadow as well. Though it really would be perfect if all the wings were in the shot but it's so hard when you are dealing with an animal that flits about from place to place very quickly ^^

    Well captured Ronni,..i agree with Beeker,..i am sure those eggs will be wasted.

    So she's laying eggs? Cool! But there's no way that poolside concrete is going to stay wet. There is no shade right there, it's all full sun. What a shame. :(
