Yesterday, dr bought a new phone at the flea market. We have either been gone or outside today so a bit ago I had to call Dan and have him call us so we could hear it ring. dr thought it was great. I was laughing so much Dan couldn't hear it and thought I'd lost a few marbles. The whistle blows, the bells ring and the lights flash. It makes a real train chug, chug, chug, too. It's a 1925 4-6-2 steam engine. I think I'd feel a bit funny talking into it though. dooley
dr loves trains. We ride them every chance we get. But, we don't really collect train stuff. He just thought this was so neat. dooley
dr says that he does collect some neat train stuff sometimes. This sign is from the Santa Fe Railroad back when they still had individual railroads instead of Amtrak. This one is hanging in our bathroom and will be going with us to Texas. dooley
awe how lovely my dad would love that but now with his dementia I think id confuse the heck outta him if I tried to get him one bless him, My dad is a long term railway fan and train spotter ( thermos and all lol) and has much memorabilia but a train phone isnt in the coillection, I think my mom might have something to say though if I got him one!
That is pretty cool! Altho i think my dog would go crazy if he kept hearing that train,,,lol. Either that or he would be scared since he has never heard a train,,,lol. But that is a really nice looking model. Well done DR.
That is neat. My husband has an aunt that loves trains and she has the same sign in her bathroom but it's not Santa Fe, I can't remember what is it...I think it's Grand Central but I wouldn't put any money on it. What a great find! Thanks for sharing.
Wow, really cool, I'd love to talk to DR sometime about trains, I used to hop freight trains around the country like the hobo's did in the 30's I was a very wild youth needless to say, now I've settled down (a little.) I LOVE trains, I go train watching all the time, & have tons of train things, whenever my family sees something relating to trains they get it for me, Our nutcracker at chrismas is a train conductor, I have a planter that is a old wooden train that I drilled holes in & planted a different flowering plant in each car (4 total), etc. One time I almost bought an out of commission caboose (they dont use them anymore.) to use as a work shop for all my crafts & plants, but the cost of having the wheels removed & to have it made to be a more building-like was to much, more then the car itself.
