just eager squirrels? I mowed the yard today and noticed acorns on the ground. They were still green, so the squirrels are cutting them and then gathering them up. I also saw walnuts had fallen and the are fully developed. They are falling about a month early. The Autumn Joy is starting to get bloom heads on them. But they normally start blooming in Mid-August.

Same things happening here too Capt. And guess what? I picked a ripe pumpkin today. I have never ever seen a pumpkin ripe so early.

Well, in that case our autumn ought to be very late. The hazel nuts are just forming.

Our pecans have been falling from the trees since mid-June, but because of the very wet fall and winter then the extremely dry spring and summer they are dried out and even the squirrels don't want them.

The apples on my trees are already almost ripe enough to pick. They're not normally ready until the end of August/beginning of September. I've picked all my raspberries and blackcurrants and made sorbet from them which is earlier than usual too. :-D

Funnily enough Eileen, I picked an apple from a tree on a neighbouring allotment today, and it was almost ripe enough to eat - still a little tart, so I only managed half. :)

Raspberries completely finished - the wasps had the last whilst we were in France. The spuds are all dying back also. Hells bells, I am so not ready for autumn!
