The locust leaves are starting to turn yellow and so are the walnut leaves. It isn't from lack of rain, because we have had rain at least once a week all summer. The walnuts and hickory nuts are dropping and squirrels are starting to gather them up. The squirrels are cutting the acorns on the big Burr Oak in the back yard too.

I've noticed a few things too Capt. The Walnut trees at work have all changed and at the very top of a few Sugar Maples the leaves are red. To me it has felt like fall in the morning for a few weeks now. I'm not ready!!

Yep, fall is in the air in NB too. Cool mornings, it was 48F this morning. Leaves are turning on some trees already. My garden is dying back 3 weeks early. So sad. I don't like winter. Hoping for a long fall.

If we were still allowed to burn leaves, it would really seem like fall! That's one smell I really miss!

I wish it felt like fall. We have a return of the 100+ temps coming up next week with the heat indexes in the 105-110 range.

The only brown plants you see here are the ones that have just given up waiting on rain and are on their way to plant heaven.
