Went to cut some firewood yesterday and the chain saw wouldn't start. After 2 hrs. finally found the reason. All of the fuel lines had rotted. Tried replaceing them, but gas poured out faster than I could put it in the tank. So I went in town and got me a new one. While I was going through the manual for the old one, I came across the original sales receipt and it was 18 years old! Didn't seem like I had it that long.
You must have taken good care of that chainsaw for it to last for 18 years! They don't make things to last like that anymore. I wonder how much firewood you have cut in the last 18 years?? Do you use a fireplace or woodstove? Happy early Father's Day!
Just be careful with that chainsaw as we don't want any accidents now do we? You certainly did well to make the old one last for eighteen years so it shows how well you look after your tools. Happy Fathers' Day from me too.
I use a woodstove, much more effecient. Let's see, on average I burn say 6 cord of wood a season, so that comes out to 108 cord in the 18 years. I won't attempt to figure out how many logs that is. And the hydraulic wood splitter I have was bought at the same time as the old chain saw. I still runs good, "knock on wood"! The only thing I have to do to it, is check the coating on the spark plug wire. I have been taping it with electrians tape for 17 years. The mice love the coating on it and climb up there and chew it off during the off season.
Happy early FATHERS DAY CAPT.I wonder if this saw will last as long.I dought it will as things are not made as well as they use to be.
18 years! That is amazing! I did the same thing with my hand mixer and my washer here a while back. I was so mad at that dang mixer, they don't make things like they used too! I found the owners manual and receipt...1990!! Time flies when you're having fun! Howevr, I don't call wood cutting fun
Aw, that old saw must've been like an old friend ... (or not.... :-? ). Regardless, Happy Father's Day and "enjoy" your new saw!
