I was out in the yard and driveway a while ago and the squirrels have been working overtime on the acorns and hickory nuts. I have a huge Burr Oak and the ground is full of acorn shells where the squirrels have been cutting them. Haven't seen and wooly bear caterpillars yet to see what they are predicting for winter. I have some leaves turning and coming down, but that's from being dry and the trees are stressed.

We have lots of old sayings about winter, how early it will be and how much snow we will have. The signs are predicting a not too early winter, and not much snow before Christmas. We'll have to wait and see.

We have lots up this way too about how fast a winter will come. Right now its 4C out this morning and thats with the sun up and out for a while now. thats 39F. Theres a light frost on the driveway. Ohhhh my poor veggies aren't going to make it i'm afraid. Well some will, but most won't.

I've already been picking up fallen leaves. The Maples are already turning and dropping their leaves. The squirrels are busy. I think we are in for an early and very cold winter.
