All summer we have only had about a dozen Robins hanging in the yard. This morning I looked out after we got back from town and there were about 50 or 60 in the yard and probably as many up in the trees. I think the fall migration south has started already.

Captain, thanks for the heads-up! I'll be on the lookout for robins in a couple of weeks (I think it usually takes them about 10-14 days to get here from the midwest).
The fall migration may be a little different and a little off-schedule this year, due to the strange weather we've all been experiencing.

We have had a lot of Robins this year and I haven't noticed any difference yet. But my Hummingbirds are on the rampage! There are more than usual this weekend and the fights are VICIOUS! I think they have started getting ready for their migration...

We normally have several small flocks of geese around all year, 5 to 15 each. But this past week I have seen 2 huge flocks fly over, maybe 50 or more. The squirrels are really cutting green acorns and gathering walnuts and hickory nuts.

Burning Bush and poison ivy leaves are turning red. Spider webs are heavier and more numerous. Doves have quit nesting. That's the real giveaway there. Doves will nest right up til November sometimes. I think my hummers are gone. Haven't seen one in a week.

Just noticed that my Monkshood is budding up. This is usually the very last bloom in my garden, and I have photos somewhere of it blooming with snow on it. It budded up early last year too and we had a nasty winter, this is why this makes me nervous!
