I usually don't put up any Christmas decorations until the Fri. after Thanksgiving. But it was a fairly nice day although a little chilly so I put the lights and garland up on the front deck rail. They look pretty good too. We are so far back off the road, you can barely see them at night. But as you come in the lane they do look nice. And we enjoy looking out the windows at them too.

    Capt Kirk,
Your place sounds really cozy. :smt111 I always take the week of Thanksgiving off to do some of my Christmas cleaning & decorating, some shopping, and writing my cards out. It is supposed to be rainy here on Thanksgiving day, but I wish it would be gloomy out all week . . . it puts me in the holiday spirit! :smt114

I'm with you Glenda. We don't put up any decorations until at least mid December. The tree will go up on December 23rd.

Capt, I remember the pictures you posted of your decorated front deck last year
    http://www.gardenstew.com/viewtopic.php ... ecorations
It looked so pretty, did you do the same this year?

I didn't decorate at all last year, have been thinking about doing a bit this year but have almost changed my mind again.

    Oh Toni!
Thanks for posting the link to Capt Kirk's decorations last year . . . the night effects are especially nice. There have been seasons where I did not want to decorate either. One year, when I still bought live trees, I thought the tree was pretty without decorations. I got razed by visitors so much, that I hung a tiny bell among the branches, and would point it out anytime someone would complain. But I am a winter gal, and love to experience every minute part of the season now. My grandchildren enjoy it also. We try to carry on old family traditions, make warm memories for each other, and avoid the commercialism as much as we can. It is very hard sometimes for the parents of today.

I follow the family tradition of leaving my lights and decorations up through Jan. 6,
which, I was taught, represented how long the Christmas Star
shone to guide the Magi to the creche - Epiphany.

So, ;) to save getting sick and tired of seeing them,
we never begin to put our decorations up until Dec. 19.

Toni, they are exactly like last years! So I don't need to take any pics this year!
