In todays news I ran across a new story about Green Circle Growers. I thought I would share it. It is an incredibly huge place and evidently the fire last month was only a small portion of the operation and didn't effect the spring sales. Can any of you imagine working in a place this huge? I can't. http://www.newsnet5.com/dpp/news/local_ ... nder-glass
400 workers with green thumbs. Must be nice to go to work each day. The garden center's garden center, I am going to figure out what 100 acres looks like then imagine all those flowers. Jerry
WOW I'm moving to Ohio!! Just imagine getting up every day knowing your going to work amongst all those glorious flowers.
Now that would be an awesome job. But leads to the question. Would you still want to come home and play in the flower beds?
Glad it was only a small part. I found a site last night that listed the largest 100 nurseries in the U.S. and Green Circle Growers was huge but only ranked #10 in total size. Can you imagine anything larger?
This place is huge. I drove by one day and it was really long. I wouldn't want to have to walk it regularly. I am assuming they drive in carts and also work in specific houses according to their abilities. I don't think I would want to come home and work/garden some more unless it was vegetable gardening and I was harvesting to eat it. I don't remember gardening at all while I was working for a greenhouse. Toni, When I am filling out questionnaires for greenhouse information they ask how large by the square foot is your operation and they have a section for over 1 million sf. Most of those places though are in S. America or over seas. They are the places that develop new seed varieties for us to grow. I think it would be overwhelming to visit one. It would take all week to go through it.
Wow and I thought that 8 acres of green house under glass was amazing when I worked for a local grower. But that is unbelievable. I would love to tour that green house.
