in a beautiful Spring Garden My husband's Aunt was fundraising for a young lady who needs new prosthetic legs and held a coffee and cake morning. They couldn't have picked a more beautiful day to do it as we had wall to wall sunshine (which we've been a bit short of recently). Mary has created this garden over a number of years and it is truly beautiful. They also have a pair of Blue tits nesting in a box on the shed and we watched them collecting moss but they were too quick to photo... Anyway,I hope you enjoy Mary and Mervyn's Garden as much as we did. Mary and Mervyn's garden is certainly full of colour - so nice to see so much blooming. I hope the coffee and cake went down well and raised some much needed funds for the young womans new legs.
What beautiful flowers to go along with a very kind and thoughtful act. They are like the icing on the cake....only better.
I sure did enjoy seeing the pics of your friend's garden. Y'know, KM--seeing colour at this time of year is always a pleasure. Cor--those fritalaria's look good. Mine have been bloomed-out for so long that I had forgotten about them until next year. I especially like the speckled ones. here we call them "Kieviet's ei" (Lapwing's egg). Keep those colourful piccies coming.
I'm glad that you all enjoyed my pictures I really must find out how much money was raised... Sjoerd, that's a lovely description of the fritillaries. Not far from here we have one of the best sites in the country for native Snakeshead fritillaries http://www.crickladeinbloom.co.uk/fritillary_watch.html But as you can see they're late this year and may not blossom at all :'( I'll try and keep the colour coming
Thanks for that link, KM. I enjoyed looking at the pages. You folks over there have such a rich heritage and capability when it comes to botany.
