I have done a search on Google and understand the process but I would like an opinion on how the taste compares from people I trust.
Do you mean how eggs & egg beaters do in a microwave compared to the stove, or are you comparing eggs in a microwave vs egg beaters in a microwave?
I've made scrambled eggs in the microwave. It takes about 43 seconds to cook 2 scrambled eggs. I do find the taste is a little different because you don't need to use butter they way you would if you fried them, which makes them healthier. They do taste good though! I've never tried egg beaters.
Netty-- I cook scrambled eggs that way regularly. I make my own version of egg beaters: 1 whole egg and 1 or 2 egg whites. They come out just fine in the microwave.
I wasn't very specific was I. Egg beaters vs scrambled eggs, each on the stove and in the microwave. DW has been trying to get me to try them for years. Don't distrust her but I think her motivation is for health reasons.
jbest--did you read my post about making your own 'egg beaters'? Try using 1 whole egg & 1 egg white. Get used to the taste of that first. My kids can't tell the difference between regularly scrambled eggs & a mixture of just one egg to multiple egg whites. It is just like trying to get used to skim milk vs whole milk. Gradually wean yourself down: whole to 2% to 1% etc. You obviously know your wife has your best (health) interests at heart, right?
Since about 1990 Nurse Ratched (DW) would make scrambled eggs for me and egg beaters for her. After showing DW your post she informed me that I have been eating one egg beater mixed with one egg for years. After 45 years you would think you know somebody.
Just goes to show John how cunning we women can be. If you don't tell your man what you've done then don't expect him to notice. My husband hates tomatoes but I regularly put them in lasagne, stews and chillies and, after forty od years, he hasn't noticed yet. As long as I peel them they cook down and can't be seen.
CM I know. Here is a photo of me and Nurse Ratched ( photo / image / picture from jbest123's Garden )
John I did not know what egg beaters was until I read this post and check with google. As far as I am concern natural is the best and the egg yolk is the best part of the egg. Beautiful couple
