When we got up this morning, everything was covered with SNOW!!! There is about two inches. I would like some of Toni's rain. She has had way too much in such a short time. I heard on the TV that they are having flooding in that area. I hope she isn't in the flooded area. I'll trade some of this snow for some of your rain. The snow has made the ground soft and maybe I will be able to dig in the garden without denting the spade. Dooley
I can imagine you are getting frustrated with it now alright dooley. You can only build a certain number of snowmen before the novelty wears off I hope it clears up soon so the gardening year can start in earnest!
I truly love rainy days....but not when there is 3" of water standing in all the flower beds and the grassy areas you can't walk thru without raising the water level to over the top of your shoe. But there was a lot of flooding all around us, underpasses and side roads....some homes and the first floor of some apartments. Several stupid drivers got themselves stranded in fast moving water and had to be rescued by the fire fighters because they drove around the barriers with signs saying "High water, do not cross" One lady was drowned when she and a friend were trying to walk across a street and were swept away. Her friend was rescued by a man who lives along the creek but they found the other womans body a ways down stream.
I agree Dooley. We've had more snow today too but thankfully it didn't lie this time. Toni I know you say you love rain but I hope it stops long enough to let the ground soak up the excess water. Why is it that some drivers always have to ignore road signs? We saw one a couple of weeks ago. He got out of his car to remove a diversion sign. Silly man - I hope his car got stuck in the hole they'd dug!!! Poor woman losing her life like that but I doubt if I'd have been foolish enough to cross a street when it was flooded without a VERY good reason. Thank goodness her friend was rescued.
It hasn't warmed up much today. We've had a mix of rain and snow. The snow has all melted. We went up and got the boards Brian needed to make a door for the greenhouse. He said don't expect anything great. It's sort of a cross between a greenhouse and a large coldframe. He hasn't tried anything like this but he is willing to try about anything if I ask him to do it. Dooley
First day of Spring and they are saying that we will get 1 to 3 inches of snow tonight and tomorrow. Record high temps. in Jan and snow the first day of spring! Where is global warming when you need it. They have an old wives tale here that says you can always tell the winter weather by the stripes on a Wooly Caterpillar. This fall they had black heads, brown middles and black bottoms. Which would mean a cold snowy beginning of winter, a mild middle and a cold and snowy end. And that's exactly what we had.
