Does anyone on Stew use Epsom salt to aide in their pepper and tomato plants growth? My uncle and I were talking about out gardens and he uses Epsom Salt to help keep pepper flowers and give them extra magnesium.
I have used Epsom Salts solution both in the ground and as a foliar spray on my peppers and toms.I used to use it regularly, but now I only use it when/if the plants show signs of Mg deficiency.
He says it works on keeping the flowers from falling off before they have a chance to get pollinated.
This is the first year I've ever tried epsom salts on my roses and I am amazed They are so green and healthy looking!! If it works this good on old garden roses I imagine it will help your peppers and 'maters too Deanna :-D
I add mg sulfate when the ground needs it,, but i do it with salt water. I use it for all the plants, not just toms and peppers. When i say salt water, i'm talking sea water from the fjord, not table salt. I just use half fjord water, and half fresh water mixed, and then add to the ground when i know a good rain is on its way. if no rain then i water after the treatment. All the plants love it. mg sulfate is found in high levels in sea water also, so for me its just more convienent to walk down the drive then drive all the way to Leknes.
I do and it works great! I myself use it as a foliar spray and only use it every 3 or 4 weeks, and i also use peroxide in my garden gives them a good shot of oxygen. I do not care much for the roses that grow in my garden - however, I do use epsom salts as a foliar spray and it does pay off. I think reading this thread makes me think of employing epsom salts on my capsicum plants as well. Thanks for the tip. :-D
