Got these two (well, had more but traded them) and even though sown at the same time, from the same batch of seeds (same source) nevetheless they developed so differently.

One is doing really well while the other... well, see for yourselves!

What can I do with the second one? Since the top is diseased, how can I make it look again like a "tree"? If I leave one of the shoots grow, I will always see the stump.
If I leave all grow, it will be a bush. I don't want that...

Cal, cut back the main stem close to the small "branch" I see that appears to be about 3" long. Eventually that should heal over and leave a small callous there. Beyond a couple of years you may never notice the "bump". Then take a stake and "stake" the remaining branch into an upright direction. Use clean pruners and cut it at a slight angle and disinfect them again when you are done. If the plant is disease susceptible you may want to get rid of the plant and start another one if you have seeds still or try taking a cutting and rooting it from your healthier plant. Good luck.
