This time of the year it takes a while to really see any beauty in the garden down here. Most everything is just laying around in the heat, perking up every other day when it gets watered, just waiting and hoping for Autumn and rain. But while outback watering this morning I did find a few things. The Pineapply Lily bloom is opening up and there is a second, much smaller one too. The Malva Zebrina had bloomed it's hearts out and died off back in late June so I cut them back to a few inches above ground and they have been making a valiant effort to green up and bloom again. They should be really great looking with cooler temps and rain this fall. This bloom is not even 1 inch (2.5 centimeters) in diameter The Blackeyed Susans - Rudbekia are making an appearance too. And I now have proof that the seeds from the double yellow Hollyhocks are viable...a little birdie told me so by planting it halfway across the yard from the Momma plant.
Wow, it all looks so great even with no water. or hardly any. I have never seen a pineapple lily before. I'm not crazy about lilies period, but that is one, i would love to have... its different. I have a ton of pics to post, i just need to sit down one evening, and lock the door, and start to uploading them. Thanks for sharing yours. I hope you get rain and cooler weather soon.

Your pineapple lily is so unusual Toni (well it is for me anyway) and is very attractive. It's good to know that some flowers put on a good show even when the weather doesn't co-operate the way you'd like it to.
Glad you all like the 'show' Biita get those pictures posted, we haven't seen any of your plants in weeks. I did find out, almost to the detriment of the Lily, that it can not take the full Texas sun. I moved it to a shady area, bright but no sun and it is doing much better. Some of the leaves did get a little burned around the edges but with the sun on it's way south it should have no more problems.
I like that Pineapple Lily too Toni. I wish I could send you some rain...we have had a record setting month for rain.
Thyat pineapple lily is really showing it's stuff. I am really happy for you that the hollyhock is doing well for you. The Malva and Black-eyes Susans atr doing quite well too. You've got everything going your way now, don't you! Well done, you.
