Found this little cart thingy in my grandpa's old barn last summer. I don't know what it's original purpose was. The little bottom "cup" appears to be for a candle? So I took it home and stashed it. While going thru my junk the other day, I ran across it and set it out so maybe an idea would come to me for a use for it. little cart ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden ) I then ran across these old insulators that were used on power poles. I thought maybe I could use them in some sort of glass totem. And they miraculously fit perfectly in the little cart. When hubby got back from out of town, he asked what I was going to do with it. Said I hadn't decided. He thought it would look good in the proposed cactus garden. So... here's the result. cactus cart ( photo / image / picture from cherylad's Garden )
Very cool Chery, I liked the chosen colours a lot. Just one question though: where you peeved when you discovered the wheels don't turn?
Cheryl you do wonders with all the stuff you find. Great planter, It looks like it was made for that. Jerry
My first thought was that was originally a chip/dip server. The cup would have held a sterno can to keep the bowl of dip warm that sat above it...the two other sections held bowls with chips. Might not have been chips and dip but it looks like the sort of thing that would have been marketed for entertaining on the patio.
That could be Toni. I had the thought of some sort of fondue server. Or it could have been a candle holder.
Cheryl, You are one clever gal! That is just the cutest little cart thingy ever! What a fun thing to do with the insulators! I have a ton of old insulators around here, I never even thought to put plants in them!
Kay... I love those old insulators. Wish I could get my hands on those old blue ones. And to be honest... I never thought to put a plant in one either. So, if it doesn't work out... I'll just blame hubby!
Oh My Gosh! We have about 100 of the old blue ones. We have some of them lined up on the window sill of our garage (which is the entire length of the garage) they reflect the light, and look cool up there. One of my brother in laws was obsessed with collecting them back in the 70s and 80s, and he shared a lot of them with Bob. We actually have some others that are rare and actually worth quite a bit of $$$ Sorry. I kind of swung this post a bit off topic...
Kay... we're going to have to make sure my hubby never finds out where you live or you'll be missing a few of your blue insulators! There some still up on a pole that we pass by everyday. He keeps saying he's going to jump the fence & climb the pole and get them. I told him to go ahead and depending on the outcome, I'd meet him either at the hospital or the jail!
