    a decent lawn, until you start a new garden bed? :-x Best grass I've ever grown is in my vegetable garden.

    I hear that! I used to have a large garden 20 feet by 50 feet, but I finally gave it back to the lawn since there was more grass than anything else!

    Yes, and if you just look at a bare spot and say,
    "That would be a great spot for a flower garden" the grass will move in, thicken up, and develop a root system that puts a Sequoia to shame!

    My lawn is thin and patchy, except in my flower beds, where it is thick and the dickens to get rid of.
