It's actually raining outside! I know that not everyone is excited about rain but we haven't had any for so long we almost forgot what it looked and felt like. Cross your fingers and hope it lasts more than a few seconds or minutes.

Even down here in SE Texas it's been overcast all day. There even appeared to be rain clouds hovering on the horizon. I "think" I heard thunder this afternoon. Or was it a train going by off in the distance??
And then... it happened. We got 10 inches of rain!
    Yep.... 10 inches! Really!
10 inches from where that first drop landed to where the 2nd and last drop fell!!
    :D
Sorry folks... I just couldn't resist. I stole that from a friend's dad back in New Mexico.

Weatherfolks say there's a better chance of rain overnight and tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

No ten inches. It was finished before I finished the post. All we got so far is the thunder and lightning.

Dooley, there is a good chance of more rain today. i sure hope you get some (but if you do, stay away from wet goats if you value your sense of smell).
Cheryl, I like the two drop story. I've been told that this area gets on average 37" of rain a year, and everyone remembers the day it fell!
We got 2 1/2 inches between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. and I am grateful for every bit of it. More predicted for this afternoon, but I can hear the vegetables giggling with joy already.

It did rain! Off and on all night with thunder and lightning. There must be about quarter of an inch but it's showering again right now. It says more rain today and it's really cloudy so keep those fingers crossed a little longer.

No rain at the house last night.... but from about a mile west and for the next 35 miles to my office... they all got rain! Roads were still wet and there's puddles all over the place. There's a 40% chance of rain today... I sure hope we get some of it this time.

It rained almost 8 hours here, steady and sometimes heavy. Lots of lightening last night too so the plants in my garden are feeling exceptionally tingly from the sparks of nitrogen they received from it all.
There is 1.5 inches in my rain gauge this morning. The storm heading across the state this morning looks like it will skirt just south of us....unless it grows as it travels.

Well at least here at work which is 40 miles West of my house.
But looking at the satellite.... it's heading East at a fast pace! :fingerscrossed:
And wouldn't you know it.... we were going to put the final pieces into place on my new rain barrel this evening.

It's rained here off and on all day with thunder and lightning. I estimate about an inch though I don't have a rain guage. Well, I have one but I don't want to put it outside to get wet. It's a turtle with a baby turtle on it's back.
Anyway there is a bucket sitting on the deck and I measured the water in it. dr says it's not accurate but it's and estimate. The plants are all happy and I expect to see them growing by tomorrow. More rain for tonight and then partly cloudy tomorrow. The road isn't too bad because it's been off and on rain and not heavy downpouring to cause a lot of runoff.
Thanks for crossing your fingers everyone. Keep it up for tonight and tomorrow you can rest them.
