Someone has set up a giveaway table in front of our clubhouse. Some business has also donated seed potatos and onion sets to our club. If only they had set them just around the corner to the right, under the roof. Other give-away tools and plants are there.
Yeah Netty, it was a good initiative that someone took. Plants and tools do not last long. Eileen—you are right, there are. Makes one wonder why no one ever thought of this before. I used to leave my extra seeds on the general table in the clubhouse or passed them around my nearest garden neighbours.
Sjoerd, that is such a lovely idea! I bring extra starts, unused hand tools, and pots to the local community garden. There isn't a "take it if you can use it" area at the garden, so I'll show this to the garden manager and hope he picks up on it. You may have started a movement!
There was also a plant swap day before the corona came. This really was a good day to pick up some plants that one may need, and also to get rid of extra’s. You can’t throw away plantlets. How interesting that you are going to suggest this to a local gardening group. I am wishing them every success.
What a wonderful idea! Gosh, wish we had some more gardeners in this neighbourhood so we could arrange a plant swap station!
Very nice! I often place extra plants on the curb with a "Free Plants" sign. We do a lot of freecycle here. My desk and sewing table started that way, although I refinished both. Also my book case and a plant stand. When we had a row of massive evergreens overhanging the house removed, for wildfire risk reduction, I sat the logs out with a "Free firewood" sign. Gone in a day.
