I always grow a few extra of any seeds I grow just to cover any loses. This year I had 6 extra Celebrity tomatoes and, as very few people seem to garden around here, I couldn't find anyone that wanted them and these were nice big ones about 18 inches tall and blooming. We do have an open farmers market though so we took them down, set them on a table and put a free sign on them. We checked later and they were gone so I'm happy and hope who ever took them will get many tomatoes.
Who could resist extra tomato plants? I shouldn't say it, but I think we may have ripe tomatoes by July 4th.
I'm eating Crow as opposed to, We actually did have one ripe, but only because of Blossom End rot. A scrawny half after cutting off the dark spot at the blossom end.
I'm going to knock on wood in hopes I don't jinx myself but so far I've never had to deal with that. I've heard the Epson salts help with it. I hope that is the first and last tomato you find with BER.
2ofus, I do the Epsom salt routine. Indeed, we do have others with BER, but a lovely rain would help. City water just doesn't get it like God-given rain.
Philip, we have plenty of good tomatoes. I guess I'm just greedy and hate losing even one. Goodnight fellow gardeners.
I just noticed I have one tiny (3" high) tomato plant growing under the palm tree next to the sidewalk. I've planted nothing else in that area at all and suddenly up springs a tiny tomato plant. Am leaving it grow as a conversation piece
