Good afternoon Stewbies. Another miserable day here in Essex, and to top it all, James is off school sick with a rotten upset tummy. The reason for my quick message is I have 5 friend requests on Facebook, but they aren't names I recognise and we do not have any mutual friends. I don't like to accept friend requests unless I am certain who they are from, so if one of them is you, could you put a little note with your request or PM me and let me know. I don't want to appear rude, but you do have to be careful. Hope you are all having a lovely day.
I don't use Facebook EJ, anyway, I would have PM'd you first to let you know what I was doing. I hope you find out who the five are. It's good to know you're being wary of folks you don't know though as it could lead to all sorts of problems.
Not me, EJ! I don't even know how to use Facebook. I can barely manage my email and cell phone!! I hope you find out who it is.
I had one of those also. A friend told me to hit ignore - if they are not willing to tell you who they are, it's a scam. I don't know much about facebook yet. I had to make a page, as my mother had one (she's over 70). I can't let my mother get ahead of me. I was a bit concerned when I clicked on the button to ask her to be my friend. Was worried that she would hit ignore!!
Just some things to remember about Facebook safety: - You don't have too much to fear about accepting friend requests from someone you don't know, it's not a way for hackers to get into your account. However I don't see why anyone would accept a friend request from someone they don't know. It is a friend request after all. - Don't click on any links in message or items posted to your Wall if they don't look like something your friend would send to you. If they use language that is different to how your friend normally writes this should ring alarm bells, so don't click no matter how enticing. You can always message your friend to confirm that they did indeed send it. And just one final item - I would log out of your Facebook account when you there are others with access to your computer. Remember whenever 'you' post something it is generally taken as fact by your friends there.
I rarely send requests to people I haven't actually met, so it's not me. Even though I think of you as a friend, EJ.
Its not me either EJ I have FaceBook but I never thought about those odd names being from here really.I have had those and I ignore them.
I haven't as I'm not real sure of your main name except for EJ on here. Though I do have a few friends from here on facebook. When I add people from here I send a notation letting them know who I am.
I too wouldn't know how to use facebook Emma. Don't really trust these sort of forums. I must say since I have joined Skype I have had some quite unsavoury messages which I have had to block.
We don't used Skype Pat, I have to admit to being somewhat computer dumb. Fortunately I have Mark to rescue me. I do love Facebook. I have it set to the highest security so only my chosen friends can chat to me and it means my family in Oz can chat and see the latest family photos which is great.
I like Facebook too EJ. I have so many aunts/uncles and cousins who live far away but we're closer than ever because we can share silly posts and photos on FB. I like it for my friends too, but mainly my fam.
Many of my family members who I don't get to see much have recently joined FB. Now I love being in touch with my family. I think its a great way to keep in touch with family and friends.
I accepted a friendship from someone I knew on a gardening site and someone had sent it to her from her church. It ended up being some type of virus from a porn site. I had clicked accept and then went to the site and it opened and I saw the word Porn on it and quickly clicked out and cleaned my computer. It messed up her computer because it stole all of her addresses. I will not accept any more of those. So beware even if you know them.
