http://www.latimes.com/news/opinion/la- ... ion-center The FDA is considering giving the chocolate industry permission to substitute oil and fats in exchange for cocoa butter in chocolate products. That makes it "chocolate flavored" and not real chocolate. http://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/o ... That's like taking the hot dogs out of the ball park, that's like taking the stars off of the flag, that's like taking the apples out of apple pie, That's like taking JR out of Dallas, That's like taking Jazz out of New Orleans. You just don't mess with perfection. Tom
Things just won't be the same again if chocolate isn't real chocolate any more. ( I've left my comment!!)
It is not surprising. They have changed the names of high fructose corn syrup to something else, and also of aspartame. They both cause major health problems for many people. Sorry, I don't have the links handy.
Until people realize that these "government agencies" and such work for the "people" and do not have the power to do this type of thing...it will only get worse. Do people even understand the definition of FREEDOM???? Freedom 1 : the quality or state of being free: as a : the absence of necessity, coercion, or constraint in choice or action b : liberation from slavery or restraint or from the power of another : INDEPENDENCE c : the quality or state of being exempt or released usually from something onerous.
Freedom?? I thought we were talking about chocolate. The freedom to take chocolate fats out of chocolate? The freedom to insist they be left in?
.. "The FDA is considering giving permission"...they (the FDA) derive their power from the "governed" not within themselves. These corporations have destroyed the natural cocoa base and are bent on selling a product even if it is unhealthy, chemical laden, etc. The huge corporations are a part of the "system"...Not a part of the governed (the people). If you back them, then your part of the problem, not the solution. It's all about money and greed.
That is why I grow my own organic food. The problem with the huge corporations is that they are bigger than governments these days.
I started this topic in 2007. Without investigating what has happened in the 11 years since then we could probably just let this particular topic fade away.
