I live in north Texas and I have started planting for fall. I have planted pumpkins and butternut squash. I plan to plant some more squash tomorrow. Anyone else started their fall garden?
I will be getting cucumbers and some beans started in August and probably try some other vegies. I started them in spring but this heat hit and sucked the life out of everything.
Planted cauliflower to winter over. It is the only way I have ever been successful, if the winter weather cooperates. Also started some spinaches, lettuces, and beetberry (chenopodium capitatum) which is new to me. My granddad always said that farming/ranching was like gambling. That is about how my gardening endevors are. Hope for the best and wait and see.
I was just at a nursery on Friday asking about fall flowers and the guy said he didn't know what would be coming in yet! I'm kind of excited. I've left some bare spots specifically for some fall blooming things. Veggie wise... I don't know yet...
I sowed cucumber and corn two late varieties a few days back. I am planning to plant some spring onions. My early variety of corn did not turn up good though. Hope that this one does.
