This is the flower bed that I started on March 29th at the family home.

And this is how it looked on June 20th.

The Texas Star Hibiscus loves having its feet in deep soil instead of a container! I'm thinking about moving it in the spring to its own "place". I think it just overpowers all the other stuff that's planted. However... one of my brother's wants to keep it there. I told him it would be easier to move one big plant instead of 6-7 smaller ones. We'll see... I'll take a vote over the weekend when my sister and other brothers will be home for a BBQ.
Plus the Canna is doing very well. The "red leaf" hibiscus is growing very well, but hasn't flowered yet. And there's some lilies from one of my aunts planted in there that are also doing well. The Mexican Petunia is taking off. The "miniature bamboo" at Coreopsis are thriving. And the border plants (I can't recall their names right now) are also starting to spread.
This bed sure seemed alot larger when I started it! :D

To the back right... there's a little bed for the White Butterfly Ginger. And behind the big bed, there's some of my Mom's Kalanchoes. And to either side of the steps (on the side) I've planted some Lily of the Niles. And behind them is the wheel barrow full of Petunias, and a couple carnations.

My work is just about done in the front yard. Next year, I get to section off a big chunk of the backyard.. just for me to play in!! woohooo!!!

Wow, what a difference a few weeks makes. It looks wonderful, great job of picking the plants.
That Hibiscus is gorgeous, guess I have to get one of those.

My, oh my! What a great update! Didn't that turn out to be something amazing?! That is one happy bed of flowers --- like a big family.

I see your wheelbarrow planter is doing nicely in the background too.

One of my cousins was always stopping by and saying "are you still playing that flower bed?" When he came by this weekend he said "dang girl... those flowers sure are pretty!" I told him "you know, that Texas Star was started from seeds that I got from your mom". He shook his head and said "her's never got that big and pretty!" I just laughed and went back pulling weeds.

Cheryl, that turned out splendidly. The Lone Star Hibiscus looks interesting to me.

Sjoerd... I'll get a closer photo of the Texas Star. But in the meantime, here's the same plant a couple of years ago.

Wish the flowers would last more than a day, but oh well... there always seem to be another big batch the very next morning.

Yep, I need to get one of those. The two Hibiscus I have had out in the back yard for 7 years finally are no more, so time to replace them.

Well... we're at the end of the road... only two neighbors... one at the top of the road and one in the middle. So only family & friends will get to see it.

Family and friends are the important ones and that wonderful new bed of plants will cheer them up when they come to visit.

I'm really glad it's filled in and started to flower when it did. I really wanted my sister and brother (from Calif.) to see it in all it's glory. And they'll be here tomorrow!
Plus my Aunts will be over on Saturday... so they'll get to see how the plants they gave me are doing.
