Hi everyone -- the past week has been a blur and I miss having extra time to hang out on the Stew... Tomorrow I'm leaving for 5 days. Two of my cousins and I are driving down to West Virginia for a family reunion. I've been looking forward to it for months. Long drive, 7.5 hours... we will laugh all the way, three silly "girls." Huge family when we get there. One of my aunts lives in the place where my grandparents lived and raised their 10 kids (my dad was the oldest). I'll be bringing back some more rocks from the home-place to put in my garden. I think I'll try to snag a cutting or two from her garden -- doesn't matter what it is, just so it's from there, you know? Everyone, have a great week. It's a holiday weekend here, so safe travels and enjoy Labor Day. See you when I get back!
Take care on the journey to West Virginia Daisy but have a wonderful time when you get there. I hope you won't forget to take your camera with you as we'll be expecting lots of photographs!! Enjoy your time with your family to the full. :-D
You sound like me...I've hauled rocks back from Scotland to place in my garden. Have a wonderful time.
Have a good time. Family reunions are so much fun. And West Virginia is pretty. So will be looking forward to picts when you return.
Have a fun and safe trip daisybeans. You are very blessed to have a family that gets along. My family reunions are the pits, that's why I don't go to them. Anyway, please take pictures of the old family home, is it the same house? I would love to see photos of it.
Have a good time Daisybeans. I've hauled rocks around the country, too. Once, a seabag full home on the train. dooley
Wow...a trip to West Virginia! Is that mountainous down there? I can feel alot of enthusiasm in your posting. Have a great time and take some pics while you are there, please. I'd like to see West Virgina, as I have heard alot about it. You see, that area as well as Kentucky and East Tennessee is one big area from which emanates the little-known "bluegrass" music. I say "little known"...but I mean here in Nederland. I like this type of music very much. It is different from anything that we have here. The instruments, the harmonizing...but most of all the lyrics to the songs. Magic. Each little tragic story reflects such strong emotions of at least one character featured in the ballad that has been driven to perform extreme deeds or to feel the extremeness of a hopeless situation. These situations are sometimes what causes him to take such drastic and irreversible actions I perceive the works to be just as important as any so-called classic novel that has been passed-down to us. As you can see, I am a bit passionate about this art form. I think that it is the passion itself that attracts me to this genre. Anyway...your trip sounds like alot of fun., so take it easy and have a great time. See you when you get back.
Sounds like a wonderful trip Daisybeans! Take lots of photo's of that heritage garden to show us! Also ~ this is a wonderful time to take notes about your family history. I learned the hard way no to wait too long to ask the older family members. You will probably hear some wonderful stories about the family
Safe trip MaryAnn. Sounds like soooo much fun. The drive to get there with '3 silly girls' will be fun all on its own. I would love to see WVA and VA. Hope you take lots of pictures.
Thanks for the well wishes everyone! Leaving in a few hours now! Just checking in one more time before I shut it down here. I hope my pics will do the place justice -- it's a beautiful place in the world. I can't wait to hug my family.
Even though I livein your neck of the woods (DC metro area) I've never been to West Virginia. Have heard that it's beautiful though! Enjoy!
