Farmers cukes Picked in Pennsylvania , USA today.

    Here is my farmer cukes , I found today , a big suprise , in July.
    I picked them an will prepare them for pickling.

    Step 2/ how to pickle small cukes.

    Wash and slice 4 quarts of cukes
    1 quart onions
    4 small sweet peppers

    place them in a clean crock (used for Pickling)

    Add 2/3 cups of pickling salt
    Pour 2 an half quarts over the salt
    Place a clean plate on top.
    Let it set over nite to pickle.

    Part 3 tomorrow.

    here is the end of the line for canning cukes,they are now pickles.

    Thanks Jewell, I plant to make many more of them.
    I put them on the canning shelves an eat them year around .
    We like them better than store bought .
    I also make relish later.
    Those are bush cukes, best I ever had them grow.

    They certainly look delicious. It has been a few years since I've put any away and there is no beating home canned pickles. :p

    These are sweet ones.

    I had only 4 jars left an hoped for cukes this time.

    You betch, nothin' better than home made pickles. Mm mm good. Were these cukes as good fresh off the vine? I do like cucumbers...

    The cukes were awesome fresh off the vine
    I was cutting Beans an eating cukes when hubby walked in. He said are you eating raw bean, I said no an showed him I found cukes. He didnt know.
    They are real sweet fresh. Loads for dinner an supper.

    I was given a bushel of cukes and they have been processed and are on the way to being awesome garlic dills! I canned 3 quart cases and two pint cases...chips, spears, sandwich slices and whole, yummers!

    Wonderful. Your a better person for that.
    I dont do dill much any more , hd likes the Kosher ones.

    My main ones are these called Million dollar pickles.

    And of course in the end I do relish which I love.

    They really look good and I am sure they are super addictive too!! :D Bsewnsew I am definately going to use your recipe on my next batch of cukes ..... never thought of pickling them until I read your post :), thanks. Errr ... I am just wandering what are those tiny seed like looking thing floating in the photo under the bottled pickle?

    Thats mustard seed.
    Wait I will type this together properly.

    Million Dollar pickles

    Slice 4 qts of cuke
    1 quart of slice onions
    2 small green peppers of onelarge
    put all in a crock an pour 2/3 cup of pickling salt over them.
    Now pour 2.5 quarts of water over that salt so it soaks good.
    Cover with a plate , set over nite

    Lift the cukes out of the brine in the am
    Put large pan on the stove add cuke and following.
    combine 4 cups suga
    4 cups White Vinegar
    4 tasp Mustard Seed
    Bring to a boil (only)
    Keep mixing it
    Add 4 tsps of Tumeric
    Mix an simmer 2 minutes..

    Pour into hot sterilized jars and seal
    1/2 from the top .

    Also run your table knife around the sides to rid of air bubbles.

    Easy an tasty.. Can be ate right away too.
