Fall is here and everything is changing quickly. Monday we had a high of 80 F. Yesterday was 70F. Today is 64 with a brisk north wind, so the temp feels like about 50. Tonight it's supposed to get down to 40F. The hummingbirds left 2 weeks ago. Haven't seen a robin at all this week, or starlings either. The only birds around are the ones that winter over. Jays, blue and brown creepers and chickadees and Titmice. Haven't see any turkeys in the past week and a half. Just finished a walk in the yard and not much going on, nothing to take a pic of.

sounds like thats the way its here also, Capt. I hear by the weekend we'll be getting some heavy frost coming in. I'm needing to get the rest of my 'winter over' flowers moved inside yet.

I haven't heard the starlings for two days, now that you mention it. I guess they're moving south.

Just the opposite is happening here. We're seeing more robins, tits and finches now and the starlings are back. The geese are all heading away to their winter grounds though and I have a feeling we'll be seeing more of the sparrowhawks in the garden as the weather gets colder.

Well it is still warm in Texas. Suppose to get into the low 90's again next week. Wish we had seasons like you do up north! :(

The ducks left about a month ago, I haven't heard a bird of anykind except the crows and ravens for about a month. The seagulls are still here, they don't leave until it gets down to about 6 hours of daylight left. Which will be by the end of this month. I have seen the swans comming in. They winter here. Amazingly. We have frost every morning, snow on the mountains already, and the trees are almost bare. Yep winter is here.

The forecast is for rain and cold this weekend. It has even said the higher elevations could get some snow. In October? Yeh, the weather is changing. dooley

Tonight and Friday night is suppose to be 32* for us...way too cool for me so I put the heat on already...just think a week or so it was almost in the 80's.....I hope it warms up some and I can turn the heat off for a while...

My finches are plentiful here and I saw a grackle on the tray today...Blue jays keep eating all the peanuts and the sparrows are everywhere... I did see some robbins a couple days ago..Mourning doves are plentiful too...Sherry
