We got to talking about fast food today. My comment was when I was a kid, fast food was the chicken that I was trying to catch with a hatchet in my hand!
Going along with the theme you guys have begun, having been raised along the west coast of central Florida, my thought was 'MULLET' (the fish) which we caught with cast nets... We had a saying which went, "You can't throw a net over a mullet that is looking at you!" You talk about 'being gone in the blink-of-an-eye,' those fish were the source of the saw... Hank
Yes mine too were chickens and living by the edge of a secondary forest the selected chicken would disappear for days if I don't catch it before it made its great escape into the jungle. They always come back after awhile.
Actually, fast food for me was something that my maternal grandmother would have cooked (or anyone else she had taught the art of cooking to) - So the end result was that such food always came straight back up again (in a ballistic fashion), just as fast as it went down!
Fast food for us was a trip to the local Italian deli for sub sandwhiches, which was a treat at our house. I grew up in a large city. We did not have anywhere to have chickens or other animals. Daddy sometimes went fishing, and I always disappeared when he came home with a string of fish to be cleaned and cooked. Eeewww.
