These are a favorite of mine, I make them at Christmas only bc otherwise I would weight 500 pounds. * 1/4 cup butter * 1 cup graham cracker crumbs * 1 cup coconut -- shredded * 1 cup butterscotch chips * 1 cup chocolate chips * 1 can sweetened condensed milk * 1 cupchopped nuts Comments These are called 7 layer bars because ingredients are layered, not mixed. Directions 1. Preheat oven to 350°F (325°F for glass dish). 2. Melt butter in a 13x9x2" Pan. 3. Sprinkle graham cracker crumbs evenly over the melted butter and press down. 4. Sprinkle the coconut on next, chocolate and butterscotch pieces and nuts. 5. Then drizzle condensed milk over all. 6. Press lightly. 7. Bake for 30 minutes. 8. Cool in pan on wire rack. 9. Cut into bars. I use double the chocolate chips and leave the butterscotch out. Now, let's see yours.

Yummers! I'm hosting a cookie exchange party at the beginning of Dec. - wonder if I might try something like this for mine. Everyone brings 6 doz. of their favorite cookie and the recipe, we all trade so we leave with 6 doz. of a variety of cookies and then everyone gets a little booklet of the recipes everyone gave me.
Brown Sugar Cookies 1 cup butter 1 cup brown sugar 2 eggs 1 teaspoon baking soda 1/4 cup boiling water 3 cups flour 1 teaspoon nutmeg Mix, chill, roll and cut with cookie cutters. Bake at 350 degrees for 8-10 minutes until brown around edges. Cool completely and store in airtight container. These get better with age, I used to bake them the first weekend in Dec and keep them until Christmas week.
Snowball Cookies (aka Pecan Sandies) 1 pound of butter 1/2 cup sugar 4 teaspoons vanilla 3 1/2 cups flour 1/2 cup chopped pecans Confectioners (powdered) sugar for coating Cream butter and sugar, add vanilla. Stir in flour, mix well. Stir in nuts. Using your hands roll into balls about 1 inch in diameter, bake at 350 degrees for 10 minutes(until barely brownish) Cool completely. When cooled, roll in powdered sugar.
Chocolate Pixies 1/2 cup butter 4 ounces unsweetened baking chocolate 4 eggs 2 cups sugar 3 cups flour 2 teaspoons baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional) powdered sugar Melt butter and chocolate, set aside to cool Beat eggs and sugar, add cooled chocolate mixture and mix well. Add the dry ingredients to liquids, mix well. Add nuts. Chill dough at least 30 minutes. Roll into 1 inch balls, roll in powdered sugar and bake at 300 degrees for 15-18 minutes. Taste and just try to leave some for the rest of the family....it can be done or failing that be prepared to bake another batch for them.
I found this recipe in a Sunday newspaper ad years ago and it has become a favorite with me and the gals at work. I only make it at Christmas becuse it is hard to find fresh cranberries during the year. Cranberry & Caramel Date Bars 1 cup cranberries 1/2 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar 2 1/3 cups all purpose flour 2 cups oats 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar 1/2 teaspoon baking soda 1 cup margarine or butter, melted 1 1/2 cups dates, chopped 3/4 cup chopped walnuts 1 cup caramel ice cream topping Heat oven to 350 F. In bowl, combine cranberries and 2 tablespoons sugar. In bowl, combine 2 cups flour, oats, remaining 1/2 cup sugar, brown sugar, and soda. Add margarine; mix well. Reserve 1 cup crumb mixture; press remainder firmly on bottom of 13 x 9 inch baking pan. Bake 15 minutes. Sprinkle dates, walnuts, and cranberry mixture over crust. Mix caramel topping and remaining 1/3 cup flour; spoon over fruit and nuts. Top with reserved crumb mixture. Bake 20 minutes or until lightly brown. Cool. Cut into bars. (Makes 24 bars)
