I was putting down new mulch last week and had to arrange it so as not to harm all the green coming up. Even with a few nights of 32 deg they are all still growing and there are some that weren't there last week. I am seriously thinking that unless the Arctic moves down here, Spring is not very far away. First Galanthus Snowdrop of the year. 15 Hyacinth bulbs of assorted colors, all of them are showing up. Clematis texenis, thank you Jane... Artemisia 'Powis Castle' I thought I had lost it in the heat last summer but it's trying to make a comeback. Not sure what is happening to the Gerbera, this wasn't there last week when I laid down the mulch. One Texas Columbine in the ground and one in a pot, planted at the same time.....I am moving the little one to a pot tomorrow!!!
Sure looks like Spring has come to your gardens! I think it'll be a while before I see too much new growth (getting another freeze or two next week)... thankfully the winter has been mild and I do still have some color out there... a little here and a little there. I want to get the back cleaned up this weekend and then hopefully get the soaker hose and mulch laid the following weekend.
I added more Scabiosa columbaria (Pincushion Flower) to the front garden this month. They have been in the Lowe's garden center for a few weeks now and the ones already in my garden have been blooming all winter. And Dianthus barbatus (Sweet William) are blooming this month too.
