Planned to go to the allotment today to do some more digging, but after the snow, and now constant rain, there is standing water everywhere, the ground is waterlogged, so no chance of doing anything! Plus it is still raining and is cold and dank. So have come home. Going downstairs to sit in the conservatory, talk to the guinea pigs and sow some seeds. :'(

Maybe this would have been the ideal time to get that finger operated on Emma as you can't do anything outdoors at present. I know, I know I'll close the door quietly on my way out. ;)

I just met Eileen leaving...what's that girl loik. hee hee hee.
Sorry to hear about your foiled lottie plans...ya wanna talk about it? It'll costya a cuppa Yorkie. ;)

What kind of seeds are going in today? I still haven't planted the first one yet. I'm going to have a time getting the cats off the window sill. I wish you could see them...goh, what a life.

It's cloudy and gray here today, so I expect the rain will begin soon...YOUR rain. :-x gurrrrr.
We spent yesterday at the lottie and the ground was all soppy from rain and melted frost--a real mess. I reckon it'll be another week before I can tousle the soil.
Do those Guinea pigs answer you? I wonder what they talk about..... :)

Eileen! hehehe. Actually, it is getting better all the time - yes the knuckle is still tender when it is touched, but honestly, I hardly notice it in my day to day life.

Sjoerd, it is so frustrating when the plot is so wet. In the summer it will be like a arid plain and I will be moaning again! Thing is, I want to get it all edged and looking sexy so I can think about where things are going. I need to sort out broadbean supports and sweet pea canes and I don't want to walk on the plot with it being so squelchy!

I have listed in the veg, herbs and flowers board what I have been sowing. I have now temporarily run out of compost as there is half a bag in the greenhouse, so I will put on my waders later and venture out in to the garden to fetch it in. I have put my chillis and toms on the windowsill above the radiators in the conservatory so hopefully they will get a move on. My problem is time Sjoerd. If I don't get things sown now, work starts to pick up and then I don't have any time to call my own. Moan moan moan! On that grumpy note, I am going down to make a cup of tea and contemplate.

Yeah Emma...I hear that! After a few squishy pokes with a Tonkin stick yesterday, I saw that doing ANYTHING on that plot would be days away...maybe weeks if this rain persists. :(

We have a pal that lives in Essex that we have visited a couple of times and I know how that soil is. Actually in the summer it is like concrete. We were over there helping her get her lottie in order once and I was shocked at how compact and rock-hard that soil gets. I've never seen anything like it.
She is slowly trying to change the consistancy of it...but her speed is not helped by the fact that she doesn't have her own transportation.
I think that I could change that soil but it would require massive amounts of compost and seaweed mixed in.
It's one of those situations of knowing what to do but not having the where-with-all to accomplish the task. Sad.

I saw your seed planting posts when I entered the reply above. oops. You are really getting serious.
I can fully understand your situation with timing. The Merel(blackbird) sitting outside my window here is bobbing his head in co-agreement.

Well make yourself a cuppa then and contemplate-away, who knows what you'll come up with.
Grumping on such a day seems in order to me.

BTW...how's that conservatory coming along? Do you have anything new?

There is rain forecast here for the next couple of days. Maybe I can get my digging finished before it starts. I haven't planted anything but some lettuce in a tub. Hope it dries out for you soon. dooley

I'm wishing EJ's lottie just the right amount of sun and rain for the plants to bear a bumper crop this year. Hang in there, EJ, things will get better eventually.
