The chicks moved outside, and Feliz our calico cat has reclaimed her guest bedroom. My room, again! ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) She was NOT pleased about being shut out of the bedroom, and her favorite nap spot. However, she has taken over again, and has no plans of relinquishing her hold on her room! Playpen in the big coop ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) The chicks moved to their playpen in the big coop. This keeps them together until they get used to being on grass and dirt, eating out of a larger feeder, and generally acclimating. They will be out of the playpen in about a week to 10 days. What the heck are those? ( photo / image / picture from marlingardener's Garden ) Meanwhile, the big girls are trying to figure out what the heck those noisy, ugly little upstarts are. They can see them but not get to them, and by the time we can open the hatch between the two coops, the youngsters and the mature ladies should be used to each other. And you thought keeping hens was easy!
Cheryl, "normal" is not possible here at Red Gate Farm. This morning we had a bunny on the porch, looking in the patio door; two cardinals chasing each other around the back yard; and a mockingbird throwing himself into the air and imitating a squeaky wheel. The closest we get to "normal" is "not very strange."
Wow! I had no idea chickens were so much work I am glad to see Ms Feliz in her happy place again She is quite the cat!!
Feliz certainly seems to be enjoying having 'her' room back again. Gosh those chicks have really grown since I last saw them. Here's hoping all your ladies get on well with the new kids on the block when the time comes for them to get together.
Poor Feliz being shuffled around but she looks relaxed in the guest bedroom,..and those chicks are nearly ready to meet the old girls to do some hen pecking
