Just to let you all know, my finger is still sore, swollen at the knuckle, however, it is 100 times better than it was. I can use it a lot more now, although it is still far to painful to make a fist. It is almost straight again, and if I grimace, I can almost make is look straight and normal. The heat from the joint has stopped but there are 2 little hard spots which I guess are the calluses forming around the thorns. And lastly, you know I had to have my gorgeous opal ring cut off by the hospital, the ring Mark gave me for Christmas.....suprise, a new one arrived to replace it. Gotta love him!
That finger of yours is taking sooo long to heal. I thought it would be back to normal by now. I don't suppose you intend going back to the doctors to get it checked out do you? It still worries me that you are in pain and can't make a fist. Are you absolutely sure that all of the thorns are out of the joint. Sorry EJ but I can't help thinking about all the pain you've gone through with it. I suppose I'm just a bit of an old worry wart!! Mark is a man in a million and I'm really pleased you got a replacement for the opal ring that was cut off. Who loves ya baby?!!!
no, the thorns are still in the joint, the only way to remove them is surgery, and to be perfectly honest Eileen, I can't afford the time off, both work and family. I have decided that I will learn to live with the ache and as I say, it is a hell of a lot better than it was, so all being well, it will just keep getting better.
Thanks for the update...I have been waiting to hear. Well, a person had to do what is best for their situation. Fingers crossed that it continues to improve. That Mark is my kinda man!...Very impressive gesture. See EJ-- you loose a gargoyler here and gain a replacement ring there. He's a 1st class chap!
EJ, I am so glad your finger is doing better, but I am ,,,like Eileen said 'a worry wart'. I know you feel like you can't take the time off, but I can't help but think with the thorns still in the finger, you may have bigger problems down the road. I do so hope you don't...keeping my fingers crossed for you. Mark is one in a million. How sweet of him to replace your ring. I know you were thrilled. Best wishes to you and a complete recovery.
Oooh Emma, that finger doesn't sound too good. As the others have said, I think you should get it looked at again (another worry wart ). Better a short time off work than major problems in the future. What a star your man is, good one Mark you are one in a million. Take care Emma and let us know how it goes.
Hehehehe, glad to know you all care enough to worry! I know I should go back, and I know it will only be a minor inconvenience, but I am a whimp so I will just keep doing the exercises the surgeon gave me and see how things go. He did warn me that it would be an achey finger more and more as I get older....see, you make me feel guilty for not going back! Hmmm, I shall take that big warm hug from you Droopy and not think about it.....
EJ I do understand about not affording it .I hope it continues to get better and a big hug from me too. Your hubby is so thoughtful to replace your beautiful ring.
I'm glad you are feeling better You don't realize how much you use something till it hurts!! 2 weeks ago I had the screws & pins taken out of my broken wrist. I've been healing right along with you Your husband sounds like a doll What a thoughtful man. Deanna :-D
