About a hundred miles to the North of us and headed east toward Caribou-Targhee National forest. A number of outbuildings are gone and several homes are in danger. More firefighters are joining in the fight today. Please send good thoughts our way that the fire will be contained soon. It is so smoky outside we can hardly see the beautiful mountains surrounding us.
The Province of BC has been on fire now for a couple of weeks. I've been breathing smoky air now for over a week and (hack hack cough cough) it isn't good. Keeping my fingers crossed for RAIN - even a sprinkle!!
Wish I could send our rain over to you to help quench the fires. Fingers crossed they will soon be under control.
Hope they are under control and out soon. I think this is the first Spring/Summer there have been no wildfires around us in years. I know how scary the thought of them being close can be.
The fires in BC and north central Washington state have made the Puget Sound Region feel like the worst case senecio of the smog in larger metro areas in the world with low visibility and air pollution. We went camping down south of us and more inland along the Columbia River and found it almost as bad just from those huge fires. Had difficulties seeing beautiful Mt. Adams because of smoke even though we were near its base. Today we are home and there is a maritime influence so maybe the smoke will be lessened some. Sure is dry and hot this year for those of us used to a coastal influence for weather. Long stretches of high 80-90 F is very unique for here.
Of course good thoughts and prayers are coming your way! We have never experienced anything this fierce, this destructive. We have grass fires that sometimes get out of control and burn an outbuilding, but never to the point of evacuation and threatening homes.
Hopefully things have slowed down and the fire can be contained...so much devastation happening all over the world. Take care...
2ofus,..delighted to see the fire has diminished by 85%,..gosh 55,740 acres burned is a big area,..here's hoping all other areas fires will ease off quickly,..i also wish we could send some of our rain.
We could sure use the rain! We must be having an inversion layer over us as all the smoke is holding down low. It makes it hard to breath. I'm having to hit an inhaler a couple times a day and everyone is coughing and throats burning. We need a good wind to blow this away.
Gosh that is a bad situation,..take care of yourself 2ofus,..i hope things improve very soon for you.
