I planted a clematis several months ago, early in the season. I had no expectation that it would do much more than sit there...y'know, that sleep/creep/leap evolution perennials tend to go through It didn't do much at first, then it started putting out some decent vines which slowly climbed the porch upright to about head hight. That alone surprised me, I didn't really expect that kind of growth. The last clematis I planted, several years ago, hardly did anything that first season, and not much the second, either. Anyway, imagine my surprise to see this beautiful, perfect flower on the vine! I had zero expectations of flowers this season. I'm pretty stoked!
Wow! That is a beautiful clematis! I'm glad it took off so fast for you. I've found that clematis do grow at different rates. Do you know the name of your clematis?
Thanks guys. I expected I wouldn't see a flower till next year at the earliest! No, I don't, not off the top of my head. I kept the tag thing though, so as soon as I get back over to Ed's, I'll take a look and tell you. I'm pretty sure the tag said it was white though, so those lavender edges really surprised me. I take it though!!
I have always thought, if you got many different color clamatis and planted them in the same hold on a trellis or arbor, how cool that would look...... Love your color Ronni. That's the one I started with..
