I haven't decided what color to paint them yet but I am leaning towards a dark green. It took 4 weeks, lots of irritatingly useless conversations with 6 pretty much useless employees (one who attempted to cheat us out of $100 when he refunded our money) at one store and 1 extremely nice, helpful and competent employee at another store 30 miles away from us to finally get the fence panels and a really nice truck driver who delivered them to our front yard when we were told they would be here. I also emailed the corporate office of this particular company with complete details of the fiasco....I received a very apologetic email and we got a useless phone call from one of the Managers on Duty of the local store. Anyway here it is..... First of my new fence panels. ( photo / image / picture from toni's Garden ) The shiny blob is the flash flashing off our alarm system sign.
I think a dark red/burgundy would look good, plus it would match with the birdhouse and the white pumpkin thing with the hat behind your alarm sign. :-D Also sorry you had a bad time with the employees at that one store, sometimes people can be such ****s...if you know what I mean.
I would leave them as is with a coat of Thompson's. I just perfer the natural. You will have plenty of green and lovely colors. Just MHO!! BTW, I love that particular picket.
You've got nice panels, Toni. It looks new now, but eventually it will have a sort of weathered look which may be even more charming. Alot of folks here have those and they paint them green with whiter tips at the top. Some folks even use a string of them to make a front yard "fence". Yours looks really good there in your plot. Pity that you had to deal with a less than proper supplier. I really dislike that sort of behaviour. Oh well, in the end, you finally got what you wanted.
whatever color you like....express yourself..me...I am a plan fence person so people notice my flowers if I would put one up..Post a picture when you get it done...
Being a lover of all things blue I'd paint the fence to match that lovely planter on the left hand side of your piccie Toni. What a pity you had such a bad experience before, finally, getting the panels delivered.
I had another suggestion .. lightly white-wash it. Would blend with the brick mortar!!! That way it would stand out a little. To paint it a specific color, I wouldn't. You will have different colors all along the fence. Would look odd to have say ... an orange fence, cause there will be some places you don't have orange flowers!! Don't try to match it to flowers or anything specific in the beds. Again JMHO!
If you take K-gal's advice about whitewashing that fence--I know a kid up in Hannibal, Missouri that you might be able to get to do it for you. If you get up that way...his house is right across the street from Becky Thatcher's.
My oldest daughter reminded me that neither of her boys had read Tom Sawyer so they might think painting is fun. I could probably get them to do the painting with a promise of chocolate chip cookies and chocolate ice cream
