It was only November 21st and with our present weather, the 2012 garden hasn't even begun to show signs of crawling under the covers for it's winter rest. But what did I find in the mail box that morning? A Pinetree Garden Seeds catalog. It did revive my gardeners soul though. I have been scanning through it and have found a couple of things I will order. Today is a nice as close to winter day as we will get down here so I am heating up the water pot to make another cup of tea, have pen at the ready and I am going to start making a list.
Toni, ours arrived this past week, also to cries of glee (on my part, my husband was totting up the cost!). While I was waiting for it to get light enough to see to the hens, I went through it, marking the pages of items I'll order. I love garden catalogs, and PineTree is one of my absolute favorites!
Pinetree is a fav of mine also. Got mine last week. I order some on line from Swallowtail Seeds too.I love to study Thompson & Morgan but haven't ordered for awhile. Is there anything more pleasant than curling up by the fire with seed catalogs? sNs
I, too, received a Pinetree catalog. I have never seen one or heard of them before. I wonder how they got my name? Today I got a Millers nursery catalog, I got my HPS back in Sept. Early ordering was 10% off. I missed that. I wanted to see the other catalogs before I ordered from them. I did order some cool looking new tomatoes from a web site in N.M. this week. A tomato called Bosque Blue. It looks like grape colored cherry tomatoes. I hope they taste as great as they look. And I ordered from another web site here in Ohio for heirlooms. I hope they are all "hits" in my garden next year.
I haven't been bitten by the "seed catalog bug" yet. Perhaps once I make sure I have some of my favs well-established, I'll venture out to get new stuff. A co-worker suggested the other day that I needed a greenhouse. I quickly said "NO! I'd have to get another job because I know I'd go overboard." :-o
Cheryl,You do need a greenhouse.LOL Your area would not require nearly as much heat as here.It need not be costly to get it filled. All my plants were in the garden in the summer.I never bought a thing to put in the ghouse this fall. sNs
sNs... do not tempt me! LOL Actually, I'm afraid that plants would fry in a greenhouse here. I'm content with my indoor cold weather growing spaces.
I got things circled in the Johhny seed catalog I got.So does DH for vegggy garden. Never have bought from Pinetree before .Might ask fora catalog.
I received a seed catalog from Baker Creek yesterday. It even has recipes in it and some very strange veggies.
