This nursery is about half way between work and home. For years, I've been meaning to stop in to see what all they have. But they are either closed when I pass by... or I'm in too big of a hurry to get home.
So today, I made the time to stop in. Very nice guy runs the place, all by himself. There were fruit trees, shrubs, lilies and who knows what all else. The guy said he's been trying to get everything out of the greenhouse and get them labeled and priced. He expects to be fully opened in a couple of weeks. I'll I was checking everything out, he walked up to me and said... "See that long table over there? Everything on it is $1.99". How on earth did he know that love mark-downs? :-D So... I got a Shrimp Plant and a Blue Butterfly Bush (Clerodendrum Ugandense).

He also told me that he always has stuff on the discount table. I do believe I've found another place to visit on a regular basis! :stew2:

I like knowing there's a small locally owned nursery that would rather sell a plant for cheap than to toss it out. :D
By the time he gets everything ready in a few weeks, I'll have saved up a few more dollars to spend. :stew2:
One of the first things I noticed were the Tulip Trees. A coworker has been looking for one. They were at least 6 feet tall and in full bloom. He said they were $20. I'll have to let her know about it tomorrow.

Great bargains!! If everything is $1.99 the guy might as well label the table 'Cheryl's Table'. Then you can stop by and not have to worry about missing a bargain.

I'll be looking for the discount table too ;)

You're doomed Cheryl, doomed I say. You will never have an extra penny to save up for a cup of coffee again. But what the heck, you will have a lot of bloomin' plants to enjoy. ;)

Thanks Glenda... I'm glad I finally stopped in and look forward to finding out what else is there in Paradise (that's the name of it Paradise Plants). :stew2:

Jerry... I like that idea... my very own mark-down table! I almost bought another plant, but the guy didn't know what it was. Said he got it from a going out of business sale from another nursery and they just had it marked "butterfly". Maybe it'll be ID'd the next time I go by!

Netty... Hopefully spring will reach you soon. It sure is a great feeling to be out browsing through nurseries again.

    Edited to add....
Toni... good thing I don't drink coffee, huh? :D
