Sorry for all the silly questions. I am working on getting my garden ready for planting. I just want to do it right the first time and then just keep it going. But now I am curious about growing on flat land or to build mounds. which is better or does one veggie grow better than another on different types? Right now I have a 9 foot by 5 foot area for veggies, that is not including the ones I am keeping in pots and I have a 5 foot by 1 1/2 foot area for potatos that is about 4 foot away from my garden.

I usually say that the silly question is the one never asked. Our veggie growers will hopefully be along shortly to help you out with your mound question. :)

Newgrow, it has been my experience that it depends on the vegetable you're planting. Cucumbers usually are hilled up. Tomatoes are usually in a hilled row. However, our soil won't stay hilled. As soon a we water, the dirt flattens out. It usually tells on the seed packet how to plant. If you get seeds from a friend or relative, ask how they grew it.

    Good luck and happy growing.
