We are retired so we can take our time. So we took the scenic route through the Blue Ridge Mts. and the Smokie Mts. Left home at 102 ft. above sea level and went to almost 4,000 ft. sea level. We drove 275 miles at 4o mph. which took almost 12 hours. Most of these pic's were taken through the car window so are a little fuzzy. For thoses that do not know the mountains get their name because of the blue haze. They are always hazy or smokie looking ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden ) ( photo / image / picture from Donna S's Garden )
What a good beginning to your trip. Are there animals to see alongside the road here and there? Like black bears or deer? Those mountains must be quite old, as I see that they are lowish and rounded. It looks like the leaves are just beginning to turn now. What's it going to look like when they are in full glory! That was cool having the "light at the end of the tunnel" as the last foto. hahaha. You are clever.
It's amazing the beauty that is throughout the world. Wonderful vistas. I wonder how many different species of plant and animal there are scattered throughout that area. Did you stop off for a picnic along the way Donna? Thanks for taking us along!
Nice Pictures Donna. We were in Blue Ridge Parkway on Oct 25-26 weekend for fall colors and the view from Humpback rocks was absolutely stunning! At Humpback Rocks, Fall of 2014 ( photo / image / picture from Green Fingers's Garden )
This was taken from the top of the rocks after 40 minutes (without breaks) difficult hike with our 6 and 7 yrs old, who were surprisingly more comfortable during the hike than us!
I love that third photograph with the mountains and the BIG sky!! Fantastic autumnal scenery and a trip you'll no doubt remember for a long time to come. :-D
Beautiful!! I love autumn photos taken in places where there is actually a change of color in the Autumn. :-D
Beautiful pictures , I take almost all of mine of the bird photos through the window. I wouldn't have even known you did it that way. Its when you shoot at an angle and not head on through the glass where you run into problems...It looks like you had a wonderful scenic time. thanks for sharing...
