This is the flower bed at the end of the house. It has the King Alfred Daffodils, freesia, petunias, pansies, allysum and some irises. Also, some weeds. Seems there is always weeds popping up along with flowers. Flower bed at end of house ( photo / image / picture from dooley's Garden ) The daffodils in the front yard didn't get any flowers. Maybe it's too shady where they are now. I'll have to move them to a sunnier spot this fall. dooley
Yep!! Dang weeds! Dooley, unless you want the daff's elsewhere, try giving them some bonemeal. Work it in around the bulbs and let them go. If they don't have the nutrients in the soil to make a flower bud they won't be able to make one for next year. And then give them a good mulching for the summer. The shade shouldn't make a difference in making the bud for next season.
We had rain for 5 days, some light, some hard, some with thunder and lightning. This afternoon it stopped and for a couple minutes the sun came out. So, I put on my boots and went out and pulled weeds, lots of weeds. I took a cup and emptied the water standing in my flower pots. They do have drainage but it doesn't drain fast enough with all the rain. We've had 5 or 6 inches according to my buckets. I don't have a rain guage so that's approximate, of course. I tied my climbing roses to the fence. Boy, what a lot of buds on them. dooley
