Previous owners of house had a large play set on this 35 by 20 ft square plot off sand. Looking for ideas to make a flower garden out of part of it. Thinking of tilling in some soil and planting some wildflowers that grow in sandy soil? Any ideas?

    thanks

If that is Sandbox sand, nothing will grow in it. Do you know if they treated the soil to prevent weed/grass growth before putting the sand down? If they did and depending on what they used you might not get much to grow there in poor soil.

I would dump several inches of compost on top and plant in that without doing any tilling. Check out http://www.minnesotawildflowers.info/ to see what plants you want to plant there. They would make a beautiful flower garden.
