As there's no end in sight to these 100+F days, I figured I'd better get some photos of a few things before they fry like bacon.
    :scheming:
I'm amazed the Purple Shamrock/Oxalis is doing so well still. I guess the Pecan tree is doing a good job shading it.

And the bed next to the garage is doing surprisingly well too. The pink, purple & white Cosmos did really well this spring. I added some seeds for orange and yellow ones. They bloomed okay, but reseeded nicely.
    Here's their second go-round.

Although I adore these colors... I just wish they had the same "wispy" leaves as the pink/purple cosmos.
Oh well... can't have it all I suppose.

    And finally...
Several years ago, Hubby & I gave a Crape Myrtle to my Mom for her birthday.... or was it Mother's Day?
Anyhow, we couldn't decide on what color to get her, so the guy and the nursery said he had one that bloomed three different colors. "Yeah right," I though to myself. But it was true.
Even though the tree isn't doing so great this year, at least it still has the 3 colors showing.
    Here's the purple & pink.

And there's the Fuchsia too. Pretty hard to tell since it was only WAY up at the top.
Why couldn't it have just made this simple and bloomed next to the other two? :-D

This little Crape is one that Hubby got from his mom's place and planted here in her memory (right next to the "triple" one). It's the Fuchsia color that's on that bigger one.

A garden dedicated to both your moms, that is cool!
I'd love to grow a crape myrtle but I think my Oregon winters would do them in

The Crapes are almost like a "weed tree" around here. There's always little saplings popping up. Usually they just get mowed down. However, one of my brother did dig one up to plant at his house. Hmmmm... I need to remember to ask him how it's doing.

Cherylad--I love your cosmoses (cosmi?)-the color is great. I also love the oxalis. Here in the north, it is a house plant!

Love the purple leaves on the oxalis and the yellow and orange cosmos are very pretty. I only have a white one this year.

Your blooms are holding up to the heat well! I forgot to plant those orange Cosmos this year...I always make a point of growing them. Mine don't get as tall as yours do.

I really like that tri-coloured crepe myrtle Cheryl. I didn't know you could get ones that gave out different colours flowers - now if only I could grow them here then I'd be on the look out for one. Everything seems to be holding up nicely in the heat and is looking great. Just let's hope the weather coold down a little so that they don't fry. I have a cosmos (a deep pink) that is trying hard to keep flowering despite the all the rain we've been having. All of yours puts mine to shame.

These orange Cosmos (with a few yellows) are very tough. They haven't required much water and the heat hasn't seemed to bother them too much. I sure wish the whites, pinks and purples would have reseeded themselves this well.

Netty.... the heat is really taking a toll on all of the plants. Even the one's in mostly shade.
But the cosmos and the yellow-trumpet plant (Esperanza) are the only one's really doing well. Wonder if it's a "color" thing? ;)

Eileen... I'm sure the "triple" Crape was grafted. But it's still pretty neat. I haven't seen anyone else with one like it. Which reminds me... I haven't been back to the nursery in years. I must remember to pay them a visit in the spring.

Thanks everyone for the nice words!

Everything is beautiful...I hope it lasts longer for you.

I bought all of these cosmo seeds from the store and only one little area grew...I am wondering if the rabbits ate them as they were coming up. I had some orange and yellow seed from the previous years and those bloomed...the more I think of it, it was some bad seed. :-?
